Crawley starter codeplug usage. After downloading the plug, please edit the "General Settings" section in your customer programming software (CPS) as follows: •Radio name: your callsign •Radio ID: your DMR ID (get one at https://www.dmr-marc.net/cgi-bin/trbo-database/register.cgi if you don't already have one) •INTRO SCREEN: these boxes can have anything you want in them if you select 'Char string' in the dropdown box. A typical entry might be your callsign in 'Intro Screen Line 1' and your DMR ID in line 2. They do not affect how the radio works. Next plug in your programming lead to both the radio and the computer USB socket and READ the contents of your radio, (Program/Read Radio) or click the yellow radio symbol in the menu area. Your radio screen will show 'PC Program USB mode' and your computer will eventually show a successful operation, which you OK. I have found that sometimes it is necessary to plug in the lead whilst the radio is powered. Sometimes the connection just doesn't happen if you power the radio after connecting the lead to the computer and radio. Then save this copy of your present codeplug (CP) to the computer with something memorable (M6XYZ factory original) etc. You now have a CP you can go back to should anything go awry! Assuming you have completed the edits detailed in the first paragraph, it is time to program your radio with the starter CP. This will give you access to all the analogue and DMR repeaters within 50km of central Crawley. By copying, pasting and editing the details, you should be able to add any repeaters in the area you go on holiday to, should you wish. When the programming process completes, (as above in reading the radio), you should agree with the computer screen dialogue box and unplug your radio from the programming lead. To get started with DMR, you must select the zone with your local repeater callsign. You can do this by pressing the green button (on RT3/MD380/390 etc.,), then select 'zone' and confirm again with the green button. Select the repeater and confirm again. Then rotate the channel switch on top of the radio and choose the reflector or talk group you want. Alternatively press and hold the top side button and select the zone from there. To use the RT3/MD380/MD390 and their clones for analogue repeater channels (generally GB3xx callsigns) select the 'Repeaters' zone. For simplex DMR natter between two radios in range of each other, select the 'SimplexDMR' zone, and both choose the same channel. Same idea for FM simplex. The side buttons perform the following functions: •Top short push: Scan on/off •Top long push: Enter a reflector number (4000-4999, 5000, 9990), then press the PTT to connect the repeater to that reflector. The repeater will default back to its listening reflector after a period of non-activity. •Bottom short push: Monitor (FM channels only) •Bottom long push: High/low power. The time-outs have been set to various lengths to reduce the chance of blocking calling channels accidentally should the PTT get jammed on, but if you want to change them the setting is in the 'Channels Information' section.
